Presentation Evening 2018
The 5th October saw the Squadrons annual open evening. Each year this night is organised to give recognition to the hard work & achievement of our Cadets & Staff throughout the preceding 12 months with a presentation of awards in front of parents and guests.
This year’s winners are:
Tornado Trophy - Awarded to the Cadet who has joined in the last 12 months who has shown the most promise & attended most activities: Cadet Malachi Mundslow
The Les Baldry Marksman - For the Cadet or Cadet NCO who has show the best application of marksmanship skills: Cadet Ben Briggs
The Warrant Officers Shield - Best attendance and Uniform standard throughout the year: Cadet Charlie Block
Alan Martin Memorial Trophy - Best academic results through the training system over the past 12 months: Cadet Corporal Edward Curtis
The Commanding Officers Award - Awarded by the commanding officer in recognition of outstanding achievement: Cadet Warrant Officers Hannah Stokes & Hannah Roberts
The Dexterous Dobson Award For Dexterity - Awarded to the person showing the greatest lack of dexterity throughout the preceding 12 months: CI Andy Buckingham
The Chloe Smithson Memorial Shield for Cadet of The Year - The highest achieving & participating cadet over the preceding 12 moths: Cadet Theo Squires
The Hart Cup - The Cadet or Cadet NCO who has contributed most to the Squadron development over the preceding 12 months: Cadet Flight Sergeant Nicky Sparks
The Miller Trophy - Outstanding sporting achievement: Cadet Corporal Anya Clarke
The Mayoral Trophy - The Cadet who has been most involved with fundraising over the preceding 12 months: Cadet Callum Munro
A number of Certificates were also awarded for exam passes and progression through the Air Cadet training syllabus.
This year Warrant Officer Ben Banham was awarded his Cadet Forces Medal in recognition of 12 years uniformed service with the RAF Air Cadets. The Squadron was also formally handed over from Flying Officer Martin Dobson to our new Commanding Officer Flying Officer Tim Shand.
